Habari Gani- Day 6 of Kwanzaa- Kuumba
This blog is to empower woman in their daily walk. Some things are spiritual and others are just to improve your overall life and livelihood. I hope that you enjoy and tell someone else.
Good morning,
Grace and peace be unto you!
Today is the first day of Kwanzaa. Take the time to take in the principle of Umoja or Unity.
1 Peter 3:8 (ESV)
8 Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind
Good morning,
Grace and peace be unto you!
Tomorrow is Christmas what a privilege to be able to acknowledge the birth of the King of Kings. Truly Jesus is the reason for the season. Don't let the gifts get you sidetracked.
Until tomorrow

Good morning,
Grace and peace be unto you!
This morning I feel a great press to encourage and lift up those that have or are experiencing loss during this holiday season. Yes, you will have to create a new normal. It is even hard to say. A few years ago our mom went to be with the Lord on December 18th and 2 years later on Christmas night our dad joined her.
I distinctly remember asking my sister, so what will holidays look like without mom and then without them both? Yes, you will get a new normal. No, you won't forget and you might still she'd dome tears but it is ok. Just don't get stuck in a funk.
Celebrate the family that remains, while yet holding on to the precious memories. It is a delicate balance of old and new. Of what is versus what was. Though it is hard, love others and allow others to love you through the hurt. Time does necessarily heal or make it go away but it does you a chance to do it better each year.
Do not hesitate to reach out if you need help to process or a huge hug. We are all just helpers one of another.
Until Monday
#liveBlessed
Good morning,
Grace and peace be unto you!
Don't limit yourself with little thinking. It is better to think huge and land somewhere in there then to think small and miss what could have been yours.
We are all conditioned to just take the crumbs when the whole cake was your you just needed to take it.
Don't allow passed failures to stop you. By the way, you will make other mistakes and have plenty of future failures but they are not the only determining factor for your outcome. We win. We win. So, don't get sidetracked.
Until tomorrow
Good morning,
Grace and peace be unto you!
Focus on what is important. As Christmas gets closer focus on what is important. Some of you will spend your whole check on Christmas for things your kids won't be able to find on Jan 1st. I ask you what is important? Keeping up with people you don't know? Building a since of entitlement? Bragging rights about how much you spent? Will any of that matter if your health is failing?
So, I bid you to think outside the societal norms. What is that your kids really need? Could it be that they really need time and focused attention? Could it be that they need direction for the new year? Have a family vision board party. Everyone share their dreams and vision for the future. Could it be that they need help studying for their finals?
Before you spend any more focus on what is really important and what are the steps to reaching/meeting the goals to attain the important things.
Until Monday

Good morning,
Grace and peace be unto you!
Growing up my grandma used to sing this song,
In times like these you need a Savior,
In times like these you need an anchor;
Be very sure, be very sure,
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!
This Rock is Jesus, Yes He's the One,
This Rock is Jesus, the only One;
Be very sure, be very sure,
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!
So while some might say, that's an old time song, I want you to consider the thought behind it. As I watch the news I would not argue that we need a saviour and solid foundation to stand upon in this turbulent world we live in. Everybody is seeking stability from unstable sources. Reality television and social media create a false sense of reality. It is not difficult to understand why we are experiencing pain and frustration when the foundation is not stable. We all need a solid rock to build upon.
That rock is Jesus. The lover of my soul. The lifter of my head. You might call him something else but ultimately he is the solid rock we should be building upon. A firm and stable foundation in such unstable times.
Matthew 7
24 “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. 25 Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. 26 But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. 27 When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”

Too often we get down on ourselves because we are not making progress the way we had it laid out in our mind, however progress is progress. No matter how slow or fast others might be going we can only guage our momentum on our race.
When I was in college and got discouraged my husband would remind me that I was in graduating class of one. It didn't matter who else walked with me. I was in a class all by myself and was competing with me ad me only.
The new year is rolling around quick but there are still some things you can check off of your 2018 list. Just do it. Look yourself in the mirror and talk good to yourself. You've got this.
Until tomorrow

Good morning,
Grace and peace be unto you! I
First, sorry I was hit and miss last week. The vacation was restful.
Today I want you and I to talk about expectations. I am sure you will agree that the more you get hurt the less you trust. The less you trust the lower your expectations are for mankind. If I expect you to show your behind all of the time then I'm not surprised when you do. If my expectation of a partner is that they are going to dog me out then when they do it is not a surprise.
Are you reaping the results of your expectation? Everytime we lower our expectations then we give others an opportunity to get off the hook. I think we forget that raising the level of expectation will help you get to the atmospheric place where foolishness can't survive. Cut off the oxygen to situations that don't help you to prosper.
Only 21 days left in 2019 raise your expectation and choke out the foolishness. It us time for you to take charge.
Good morning ,
Grace and peace be unto you!
James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
I am so glad that while lots of things shift and change God never does. Sometimes I can be in my own will and way but he still provides me with the good and perfect gifts that he knows that I need. Be encouraged my friend, though everything around you may be shifting hold on to the unchanging, nonshifting, hand of God.
Good morning,
Grace and peace be unto you!
Know that the person you can be is your own amazing self. It's easy to copy what you see but if we ate all alike what boring world this would be. The Spice that you bring will add the flavor that somebody needs to make their day. Come on sis just show us you.
Good morning,
Grace and peace be unto you!
For most people, a holidays are the chance to relax, spend time with your loved ones, see some sights, and make some memories. But it's not like that for everyone.
New statistics from a survey carried out by Booking.com indicate that just over one in three people (36%) worry about things going wrong during the holidays and it pushes them toward anxiety attacks.
So, what can you do if you know this is an issue?
1. Use essential oil blends to help you relax and be at peace as you travel. These can be in roller bottles, creams, or just in the palm of your hand. www.doterra.com/michellevann
2. Use some breathing techniques to calm yourself. When panics begins to set in the first thing that changes is the breathing. Learn to focus and take control of your breathing.
3. Be prepared. Have everything you need printed and in an easily accessible bag. Consider having music or relaxation tracts downloaded to your playlist to elimate going into a panic attack. (Having them on your device will elimate any technical difficulties)
4. Practice some mindfulness activities, prayers and\or meditations to help center your mind, body, and spirit. When you are centered negative feels have no place.
While this is not an exhaustive list I hope it gives you some ideas of things to do.
If you have further questions or would like to know more about any of these. Hit me up. iasisjmv@gmail.com

Good morning,

I saw this quote the other day and wanted to share it with you because, as women we can be relentless on ourselves. We don't really need others to bash us because we take care of all by ourselves.
What if for the next 36 days we;
1.Forgive yourself for EVERYTHING from the past.
2. Talk kindly to yourself, about yourself.
3. Treated yourself with the loving kindness you extend to others.
4. Put you first (everyone else will not die, they might learn they can do it themselves)
5. Take time to figure out what you really like, not what society tells us to like.
If you are going to take the challenge click the link below for the Facebook support group. Changing old habits is hard but we have to go into 2019 stronger and wiser. We must use all the tools we have been giving to live our best life.

Good morning,
Grace and peace be unto you!
As we prepare our hearts and minds to be thankful, consider this. Too often we get stuck in our past and never learn the lesson that the situation was supposed to teach us. Yes, many of us have had some really cappy things happen, but what was the lesson? If you learn the lesson you won't have to be retained.
Use the knowledge you gained to be not only a gift to you but to those you encounter. See, the test that you went through is a testimony for you to share with others and to propel you to the destiny that is specifically yours.
Your path does not look like mine. My path does not look like yours. However, when it is time for our paths to cross we both have to be at our assigned meeting spots to fulfill our destiny. Don't get caught up by the side show. Destiny is at hand. BE motivated because what's to come is better than what's been.

Good morning,
Grace and peace be unto you!
As I was reading this morning this came up and I want to share it.
We have so much to be grateful for in this life. Each and every day. But reality is that sometimes constant life demands, struggles, and worries give more room to defeat than to a heart of thanks. Or we forget, in the midst of busyness and pressures, just to pause and give thanks, for all that God has done, and continues to do in our lives.
Sometimes it really is a sacrifice to offer praise and thanks. We may not feel like it. We’re struggling. We're weary. Or maybe, we feel like He let us down. We think God seems distant, like he's far away, or doesn't really care about what's troubling us. Painful life blows and losses might have recently sent us spiraling.
But here’s what can make a lasting difference. We have a choice, every day, to give him thanks. And with a heart of thanksgiving, we realize that no matter what we face, God doesn’t just work to change our situations and help us through our problems. He does more. He changes our hearts. His power, through hearts of gratitude and focused minds on Him, releases the grip our struggles have over us. We're strengthened by His peace, refueled by His joy.
God's Word is filled with many reminders of how powerful and vital a thankful heart can be in this world.
-It gets our eyes off ourselves, and helps us to focus back on God.
- It reminds us we're not in control, but that we serve a Mighty God who is. It keeps us in a place of humility and dependency on Him, as we recognize how much we need Him.
- It helps us to recognize we have so much to be thankful for, even all of the little things, which often we may forget to thank Him for...but they really are the biggest, most important things in this life. It takes our attention off of our problems and helps us instead to reflect on, to remember, the goodness of His many blessings.
- It reminds us that God is the Giver of all good gifts. We were never intended to be fully self-sufficient in this life. A grateful heart reminds us that ultimately God is our Provider, that all blessings and gifts are graciously given to us by His hand.
- A heart of gratitude leaves no room for complaining. For it is impossible to be truly thankful and filled with negativity and ungratefulness at the same time.
- It makes the enemy flee. The forces of darkness can't stand to be around hearts that give thanks and honor to God. Our praise and thanksgiving will make them flee.
- It opens up the door for continued blessings. It invites His presence. Our spirits are refreshed and renewed in Him. God loves to give good gifts to His children. He delights in our thankfulness and pours out His Spirit and favor over those who give honor and gratitude to Him.
Good morning,
Grace and peace be unto you!
I saw this quote and really wanted to share it with you today. Some of us sell ourselves short, for various reasons, that we believe serve us. Many of us were taught that if you talk about what you have been blessed to do you were conceited and needed to be more humble. Many others of us were fed so much negativity that even when someone acknowledges our good we can't see or believe it.
My sisters today I want to encourage you to start writing down the positive things people tell you about you. For example Maria believes that you are a great artist and I belive it too. Write it on an index card. Make it as beautiful as possible. Then tape it to your bathroom mirror. Everytime you get a compliment or words that feed your spirit add it/them to the bunch. Read them in the morning as you look yourself in the mirror. You have to speak life into you. We deal with negative on every front that you and I must take charge of what happens between our ears. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Today I am grateful for books that have come in my life at various points. I am going share two today.
The first is Healed Without Scars. Dr Evans allows us to hear into some of his conversations with people in which he has helped in his counciling practice. This book came at a time that a needed to see some of my blind spots. It us truly a mirror to reflect you to you.
The other book is No Matter What. Lisa Nichols takes unto her life and explains 9 principles that she sees has guided her life. If you are contemplating life changes this is the book for you. It will not only provide you with reading but activities to work through what you are reading. It is stretching me.

One of the ways that we can transform our lives is by voting. The wrong people in office can not only produce bad laws but a negative environment for you to live in.
Too often we think those people don't make a difference in my life personally. However, if you are sick and the law deems it a preexisting condition those people have impacted your life. You will now have to pay out of pocket and that will most definitely effect your quality of life.
This is not the time to put your head in the sand. Pay attention to what is happening around you. This is a critical time in our world, our state, our county, and our city. Be part of the solution.
Good morning,
Grace and peace be unto you!
Have you ever received a positive note from someone that just lit up your soul? Note necessarily a love note, but more one of encouragement. The note that said I am proud of you from the one person you thought never paid you any attention.
Today, I want to challenge you to write at least three notes to encourage someone that you have been watching along the road. Lift someone's spirit with how you see them, even though they may not see themselves that way. Sow a seed in someone else's garden. See what blooms.

Grace and peace be unto you!
In this month of Thanksgiving let's give thanks. Here are some ideas to help you get going.
Good morning,
Grace and peace be unto you!
As many of you who read regularly have figured out...I'm human. Yes I know that's funny but in my humanness I lose my way like many of you do. I trip, I fall, but I am getting up. I started reading, No Matter What by Lisa Nichols and this lady has me thinking this morning.
She talks about having a I-Know-Like-I-Know inside you. That trigger that tells you that know matter what it looks like me and God are going to come out on the other side.
I had to smile because in my most recent test I wanted help from people but they could not reach the proverbial scratch. You know you have had that itch in the middle of your back that you couldn't reach. There was a Jesus sized whole that could only be filled by him a this new place. As you walk with Christ he challenges you to go into various spaces that will test your fortitude in the face of the challenge that he can forsee.
No matter how long you walked with Christ you don't have all the answers and you can see around every bend in this road of life but you have to know that you know it will be ok. Get your eyes off of people and on your help. People will disappoint you every time, but they are not your true source. Build up you I-Know-Like-I-Know muscles.

Good morning,
Grace and peace be unto you!
And he knows everything, inside and out. He energizes those who get tired, gives fresh strength to dropouts. For even young people tire and drop out, young folk in their prime stumble and fall. But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, They run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind. - Isaiah 40:30-31MSG
Woooooooow, even when I dropout he will give me strength to get back in the fight. That is good news to me. Life, work, family, and church can all come together in cataclysmic bomb sometimes. It feels like every bit of good you have done is for nought and the voice in your head ( yeah don't pretend like you don't talk to the voice in your head) tells you to walk away. Just throw up the duces and move to some island.
Then just quickly as you can go all the way inside yourself somebody will post a message straight of the printing presses of heaven just for you. Then you flip on the YouTube and the person speaking is all in your business. After the person at work that does really talk stops you and says JUST what you needed to hear and your weight has been lifted. You are able to soar like the eagle that you are. High above the earth and the foolishness.
Yes, life can and is hard sometimes but the best problem solver lives in us but we don't tap into it. We call everybody but the holy spirit. Take the time today to tap in. Seek him while he may be found. Let him renew your strength. Time to come to class every dropout. This school called life is not over. #liveBlessed

Good morning,

Transformation takes place as we learn how to take time to breathe. Anxiety, stress, and pressure can easily over takes us but we have to breathe. You place the mask on yourself in a plane if there is an emergency so you can breathe and then help others. Sistah you have invested in everyone but yourself, and the cost is too high. Too high because it is sucking the very breath from your body.
Yes, I know that each breath feels like your chest is going to explode and there is no space for air to come through, but breathe. What relaxes you? What song, what smell, what location brings you tranquility? Focus on it and breathe. Maybe it's a scripture, a prayer, or a mantra. Focus and breathe.
You only have control over this moment. What will you do with it? Will you allow the panic and fear to steal it or will you step up and seize the moment? Breathe my sistah. Breathe.
Good morning,
Grace and peace be unto you!
What will you or have you exchanged for peace? You are a precious soul and deserve to have everything that God has preordained for you. Peace, joy, happiness, contentment, success, and much more belong to you.
Don't allow thieves to rob you of your joy. Don't allow the words of hater get into your spirit more than the words of those that care for you. Don't give up too quick or stay too long. Girlfriend, your peace, your joy, your balance is so important to your journey and to God.
Say, I am at peace, until it gets from your lips into your spirit. (Feel free to exchange peace for whatever you need to attract into your life)
Until tomorrow

Good morning,
Grace and peace be unto you!
No matter how much of a wonder woman you might be there are days that you are just not feeling it. Let me be the first to say, that is ok. You don't always have to have the answer, make the cookies, run the meeting or be present (preaching to me first). It is ok to get away for rejuvenation even Jesus did. People don't know what they have until your absent.
Ladies, know that you are worth the time it takes to care for you. You will make it. It might not feel like it in the middle of the trial but you will make it. You will be stronger and wiser. Sistah you got this.
Until tomorrow #liveBlessed
Good morning,

As we transform we have to take the time to be honest about where we are in our mind, body, and spirit. Nobody wants to be the odd one out so when mental instability begins to show we tend to try to hide it. You do not need to hide any more.
Mental Illness Awareness Week
Each year, millions of Americans face the reality of living with a mental health condition. However, mental illness affects everyone directly or indirectly through family, friends or coworkers. Despite mental illnesses’ reach and prevalence, stigma and misunderstanding are also, unfortunately, widespread.
That is why each year, during October, NAMI and participants across the country raise awareness of mental illness. Each year, we educate the public, fight stigma and provide support. And each year, our movement grows stronger.
We believe that mental health conditions are important to discuss year-round, but highlighting them during Mental Illness Awareness Week provides a dedicated time for mental health advocates across the country to come together as one unified voice. Since 1990, when Congress officially established the first full week of October as Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW), advocates have worked together to sponsor activities, large or small, to educate the public about mental illness. https://www.nami.org/
Don't suffer in silence. Get help. Remember, iron sharpens iron. We ALL need help to be our sharpest.

Any real coffee drinker knows that sometimes you can get a cup of coffee that taste like sweet nectar and sometimes you can get some that taste like the bottom of a shoe (or at least what you think it would taste like), either way you don't stop drinking it. You do however learn the places you can go that will satisfy you need for the warm black stuff.
Much like searching for a good cup of coffee you must seek our people, places, and things that will fill your internal cup. Your motivation cup.
There are certain people that just being in their presence gives you a boost, but when they speak all of your senses are engaged and your are charged for the journey. Along that same line, there are places that you go to just relax and unburden your mind, body, and spirit. You grab a coffee, you sit in your favorite spot and you allow yourself to be recharged (mine is the tub). Finally, there are specific books you read, podcast you listen to or YouTube stations you connect with during certain seasons because that particular author/speaker talk right to you.
If you are saying yeah, I don't have any of those I will indy ask you to start paying attention to your inner self. Often we are not tuned into our times when we are full just emptiness. Pay closer attention to what makes your heart sing. What gives you joy? The coffee is only good if it's made the way you like it.

Think about what you're thinking about, Joyce Meyer This is such a simple yet impactful thought. When we understand that your mind is your most power part of you, you will change how you interact with it.
The more positive we can put in the positive will come out. Just like weeds in your yard. The more grass seed you plant the less space is available to the weeds. Time plant some seeds. What are you reading? Who are you listening to? Where are you spending time? These are all critic to the growth of your mind.
