Wednesday Word

Good morning

13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before

Wow we are right at the end of 2015 and I really want to encourage each of us to leave some stuff in this year.  Don't carry your baggage of pain, hurt, hate, unforgiven essential into the new year. Paul says you kniw I don't have all together but this is something that I have figured out, I have to put thing into perspective. I have to put things that are in the past in the past,  so that I can reach for the future. I can not go forward looking in the past. I can't grasp the new things that God has for me if I am loaded down with the cares of the past.
I encourage you to ouse the next couple of days to unload your baggage. God has so many great things in store for you but you have to release the old to get to the new.
Happy Wednesday and Happy New Year  God bless and remember that you have to live Blessed

Monday Motivation

Good Morning,
I pray that everyone had a marvelous Christmas.
As we move closer to the end of the year I want encourage you to not be a sleep walking but to be a destiny walker. What I mean is that many of us are going through the motions of life everyday but we are asleep.  Our eyes are open but we are oblivious to the things around us.

I want to encourage you to be a destiny walker. A destiny walker is someone who knows the plan of God for their life and walks in it. When I'm a destiny walker I don't get tripped up when you don't understand what God is doing in my life. Destiny walkers have vision that is written and it's plain, so it can easily be carried out.

My sister please walk into 2016 a destiny walker not a sleep walker.  I have attached a cool video that will encourage you. live Blessed.

Thursday Thoughts

Wow its Christmas eve. Where did the time go? I hope that you have plans with those that you love. All of us can't be with family on the holidays but that  doesn't mean you can't find loved ones to be with.  Find someone in your congregation that is single and invite them over. Remember this is supposed to be a time of caring and sharing.
Have an awesome Christmas and as always live Blessed.

It made me think of the song. Somebody prayed for me. Had me on their mind took the time to pray for me. I'm so glad they prayed, I'm so glad they prayed. I'm so glad they prayed for me.

Monday Motivation

Wow ladies, can you believe we only have ten days left before we bid farewell to 2015? Have started your reflection and goal setting process? No I'm not talking a new years resolution that you won't keep. True goal setting for 2016.
It is imperative that we reflect on both the positive and negative things that have happened this year, because it is from both sides that we can gain knowledge to go forward. Reflection is important in gaining a focus for how we frame our going forward. For it is during this time that I can see where God has brought you from and how he made ways that we could not have made ourselves.
Have a great week crafting your goals.
Don't get so tied to the commercialism of Christmas, use it as a time to love on your family and friends. We truly don't know when our last time will be. Life will not come to an end if there is not a thousand gifts under the tree.

As always I admonish you to live Blessed.

Thursday thoughts

Good morning,
My thoughts this morning;  Let's pray for those that have incarcerated loved ones over this holiday.  We tend to focus on those that have died but it your parent(s) is in jail they are still absent from the home. Pray for their relationship, their heart, healing, reconciliation,  love,  peace and most off salvation.
Just my thoughts this morning. Pray for a sistah this weather...ugh.
Anyway remember to live Blessed

Wednesday Word

Good morning.
I just want to share with you from a Billy Graham devotional this morning.

When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. — Matthew 2:10

Every year people write me saying how much they dread Christmas. often their complaint stems from how busy they will be, or how much money they will spend.

Did those wise men who journeyed hundreds of miles across the desert to seek out the infant Jesus ever feel that way? After all, it took months to make the arduous trip, and they had gone to great expense to provide gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh for the new Child.

I doubt it. in fact, as their journey neared its end we read they had “exceedingly great joy.” what made the difference? Their focus was totally on Jesus, the one who would be called “Immanuel,... God with us” (Matthew 1:23).

Don’t let this Christmas season overwhelm you. Don’t feel you have to do everything, or go into debt just to impress other people. Focus instead on Jesus.

Take time every day to read the prophecies of His coming and the wonderful story of His birth. Make this Christmas one of “exceedingly great joy”!

I pray that your Wednesday is is awesome...live Blessed

Thursday Thoughts

Good morning friend (s),
Below is a challenge I was given and would like for you to share with others.
And as always...live Blessed

PERFECTING CHALLENGE:
In our Sunday School class we were asked what we have learned about ourselves this past year, and what area in our lives do we want to work on perfecting in the upcoming year. My answer is below. Please share this with others and keep the challenge going.

1. My truth is not everybody's truth.

2. I don't need to respond to everything.

3. Being out of control is ok.

4. Wisdom is the chief thing...get some

5. I am gifted and talented. It okay to get credit sometimes.

6. Silence is not a bad thing...practice it.

7. More reading less other stuff.

Wednesday Word

Goodmorning
Upon waking, I ask God what to share with you this morning. He said "Pray for the nation".
I will be the first to tell you I don't agree with most of what is happening right now in our government and especially with the political candidates we have before us, but God said pray for them. Because this kind will only come out by fasting and praying. What is this kind? This kind of sin, corruption, evil and deviant behavior. All of us have talked about it but have truly prayed about other?

We have never had a time where we "at peace" but we have so many killed in gun violence. Interesting enough, for however many we have heard about, there are many many more that are totally silent. There is no media coverage, no real investigation and a bogus determination of death. I know we are busy, I know we are on a thousand committees but it is time to pray. Don't wait until it hits your family to hit your knees.

Here are some scriptures to help you pray for our nation
Have an awesome day and... live Blessed

25 Verses of Hope for our Nation:

“Yet give attention to your servant's prayer and his plea for mercy, Lord my God. Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in your presence this day.” 1 Kings 8:28

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He choose for His inheritance.”  Ps. 33:12

“He will be the stability of your times, a wealth of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge…” Is 33:6

It is “God who changes the times and seasons; He sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.” Dan. 2:21

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Eph. 6:12

"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you." Is. 60:1

“The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” Ps.145:18

"Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying." Rom. 12:12

"Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven." Matt.18:19

"And Jesus said to him, "'If You can?' All things are possible to him who believes."  Mark 9:23

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24

He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”  Jer. 17:7-8

"They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord."  Ps. 112:7

Thursday Thoughts

Happy Thursday morning.
I pray that all is well with you and yours. Which brings me might thought for today...What in the devil is going on in our society?  People are shooting people all over the place. If you have people in your family that are acting weird get th some help, medically and spiritually.  Some of this is mental illness and some of this is sin sickness.  We need alot a more Jesus. I know that we believe we are a stronger and wiser generstion, but truth is we are ever learning and never coming into the knowledge of the truth.
Truth kids need the behind tapped every now and again.  All little kids should have to go sunday school or something equivalent.  If you still live in my house, I'm the booga with the sugah,  abide by the rules or get out. It doesnt require alot of intelligence to shoot someone but it does require some to have a conversation and resolve issues.  Jesus is still the answer for the world today.

Not saying they are right, they are just my  thoughts. Have an awesome day and ...live Blessed

Wednesday word

Good morning
I just wanted to share a quick word with you this morning.
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

So my simple question is, what are listening to? So if faith cometh by hearing then we have to be listening to conversation that builds our faith. Conversations that push you to greatness and reinforce the power and word of God. Every bit of instruction we need is in the word.

Just short and simple this morning.
Evaluate who you are allowing yo speak in and over you and your family.
Have an awesome Wednesday and remember to... live Blessed

Monday motivation

Good morning.
Hope you have slept off that turkey. We had an earthquake this morning ptl I did not feel this one.
Today's motivation is real simple don't reveal yourself too early. The attached picture says it all. Too often God has given us vision or revealed some revelation and before he can get out we are calling someone on the phone.  Ask Joseph, telling your visions will get thrown in the pit . Allow God to perfect what he has shown you and in due season it will be revealed.
When the seed goes in the ground it takes time for germination to happen and for it to from seed to product. Why would the seed God has planted in you be any different?

Have an awesome Monday...and live Blessed

Wednesday word

God morning,
Check out the word for this Wednesday morning.
Psalms 77:11 I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. 12 I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds. 13 Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God? 14 You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.

It is so easy to get our eyes on everything and everybody but God, and when we do we lose perspective. Especially at the holidays, when we don't feel like we measure up to others we can quickly forget what God has done for us.

The psalmist here is trying to talk himself out of being depressed and critical of God by remembering what had already been done. When you stop and look back over the mountain you've come over and the valleys you've crossed over you should be shouting right now.

So instead of being depressed and angry because everything is not so so,  I'm going to mediate on you. Praise you that it is well. Praise that better days are coming. Praise you that my future is better than my past. Praise you that I  got over, doesn't matter how, but I got over. Don't spend your time being stuck on the should've,  could've,  would've,  but embrace the moment and give God thanks that it is well.

Have an awesome day... Live Blessed

Good Morning,
I know that most of you are feverishly checking off your lists as you prepare for thanksgiving and some of you are panicking because you don't know what to do. I remember the very first thanksgiving that I invited my grandparents and my great uncle to...baby I was so nervous. Don't get me wrong I have been cooking since I was 9 so the cooking wasn't the problem, making sure everything was right was. So I used some awesome recipes I found in the October issue of Ebony magazine. They were awesome and it was great. I don't have that anymore because 25 years have flown by since then. So, I have attached a link to an awesome Pinterest page full of tasty recipes for those of you that are yet trying to figure it out. Enjoy.

Friday findings

Did you know?

Why has WhatsApp accessed my contacts 23,709 times in the last 7 days?
by BEN WOODS

Each time you install an app, you’re asked to accept the permissions it’s requesting to access the features on your phone. It’s a standard cost of entry for downloading pretty much any app, and particularly free ones.

If you’re not paying with money, you’re paying with your data.

But despite knowing that an app can access a particular feature, you probably mentally write it off as an infrequent occurrence, or perhaps, only when the app needs certain information.

That sort of thinking, however, doesn’t explain why WhatsApp has accessed my contacts nearly 23,709 times (and counting) in the last seven days.

I tried to ask the company multiple times, for more than a week, but got zero response.

Perhaps there’s a perfectly good reason why it’s accessing my contacts roughly twice each minute. Perhaps it polls my entire contact list, or specific ones, every single time the app is opened, or I receive a message, or send one. Or perhaps it updates every time a contact comes online?

If the company had responded, I’d be able to tell you why, but it hasn’t.

For comparison, Facebook Messenger, which I have also used in the same time period hasn’t accessed any of the permissions granted a single time.

Apps accessing these permissions huge numbers of times aren’t all that surprising to me – Uber and Waze needing to know where I am, for example. It’s also how they monetize the sale of that location data.

I’ve also used both these apps in the same time period: Uber accessed my location 111 times, while Waze, which I used for about 3-4 hours of driving, accessed my location 13,859 times (and my contacts 1,127).

It’s no surprise if badly coded apps lead to appalling battery life in your smartphone if a single app is polling it every 30 seconds for contacts. And that’s just one app, the overall effect on battery life must be incredible. Presumably there’s a knock-on effect on your data usage too.

With the introduction of Android M and more granular app permission controls (and the ability to revoke individual ones whenever you like) user management of when and how Android apps access user data gets a little easier, but most people aren’t on Android M yet.

Checking which apps access which permissions on older handsets is a little trickier, and in this case I used BlackBerry’s DTEK application that ships as standard on the Priv.

Battery technology is often lamented on smartphones – but perhaps a bit more focus should go on app developers, rather than device makers if you’re polling my phone every 30 seconds.

Wednesday word

Good morning.
Here in my part of the state it is a very wet Wednesday morning. Whereever you are I hope you are safe and being blessed of the Lord. Today I just want us to look around and see what is happening in our society.  I have never heard of so many people with cancer, in every form. There are enumerable cases of domestic violence. Wide spread acts of terror on all fronts. If there ever was a time to seek God, it is now.
Time to call sin, sin and wrong, wrong. Time to stop playing church and truly living a life for God. None of this is new information, just a reminder. A small break for station identification.
Can people see the Jesus in you or is he to hidden under all of the other stuff?
The good works, the shouting, and the regular church attendance, are all good but what is your relationship with God like? If you call him does readily know your name or do you have talk a minute for him to catch it?
IT IS TIME TO PRAY for our friends/family,  our nation,  neighborhood,  school system,  churches,  leaders, places of employment,  those people that work your nerve. Pray often enough that your voice is recognized in the heavens. The hour is closer then it has ever been.

Hebrews 10:19-21 So, friends, we can now—without hesitation—walk right up to God, into “the Holy Place.” Jesus has cleared the way by the blood of his sacrifice, acting as our priest before God. The “curtain” into God’s presence is his body.
22-25 So let’s do it—full of belief, confident that we’re presentable inside and out. Let’s keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word. Let’s see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshiping together as some do but spurring each other on, especially as we see the big Day approaching.

Think on these things...Live Blessed.

Wednesday Word

First I would like to say Happy Veteran's Day to all of you that served our country. You deserve all of our love and respect.

Ephesians 6:11-17English Standard Version (ESV)

11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,
While we are not soldiers in the American military we are soldiers in the army of the Lord. My sisters, please make sure that you are fully covered with the armor from the Lord. Don't go out uncovered or the fiery darts of the enemy will bring you down.

Monday Motivation

Good November morning,
Wow, the holidays are right on us. I just want to motivate you to not procrastinate. I know, its hard but if you are honest there are many opportunities that you have missed because of procrastination. So as I was reading I came upon these 6 Things Guaranteed to Help You Stop Procrastinating by Jennifer Heeren,
Action over feelings:  The ultimate answer is to all three of these reasons is not to go by how I feel. I may feel those feelings but I don’t have to and shouldn’t live by them. Waiting and procrastinating equals passive living. I’m waiting for some outside force to move me pass my fear and towards action. Taking action (even one small step) despite my feelings is the only real way to move forward.
Fear is not from God:  If I am feeling fearful, I can remember that God didn’t give me a spirit of fear or timidity. So, any fearful feelings shouldn’t be an excuse to not do something. God did however give me a spirit of power, love, and self-discipline and this gives me every reason to go ahead and try (2 Timothy 1:7).
Learn as I go:  If I’m feeling like I’m not ready, I need to remember that I’ll probably never feel like I’m ready. What I’m actually doing is trying to learn as much about my destination as I can before I take steps forward. It’s okay if I learn a little bit beforehand if it helps me to go forward. But I can’t get stuck in the learning stage. Most learning happens in the midst of doing anyway. By faith, Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land. He went without knowing where he was ultimately going (Hebrews 11:8). Trusting God and learning as I go is the best choice.
My life is a vapor:  If I’m feeling like there simply isn’t enough time to do such-in-such and I can do it later, I’m not remembering thattomorrow isn’t promised to anyone. Life speeds by fast and I don’t know how many tomorrows there will be. Even when tomorrows come, I don’t know what I’ll be dealing with then. I can only really see today (James 4:13-16). Therefore, I need to make the most of today and take as many action steps as possible (even if they’re little ones).
Give it a deadline:  If I want to get something done, the best way to do it is to give it a measurable deadline. I can’t usually find a lot of available time; I have to make myself do the thing. One of the best ways to make sure that I do that is to set a firm deadline. It also helps to tell someone else about my firm deadline because then I feel like I’d be disappointing someone besides me if I don’t get around to it.
Small steps are okay:  I also need to remember that a little each day adds up over time. I may not find hours to work on something but I can usually find twenty to thirty minutes if I try. And… thirty minutes per day is about thirty hours per month and that is a lot of time.
I also need to remember that it is sin to know what I ought to do and then not do it (James 4:17). And that is the definition of procrastination—to know and not do.

My sistah live blessed.

Friday Findings

As the holidays roll around we need to make sure that we are being mindful of our family, friends and neighbors that might be experiencing difficulty in making ends meet. Below is a way that we can all contribute to causes that help our community. I am a  part of the Samaritan Community that is organizing these efforts and would love for you to be part of these efforts.

Many times as a family or smaller church we would like to contribute to a cause but don't think our small amounts matter. Well, this is a way to contribute to the whole. As a smaller church I can collect one particular item, say cranberry sauce, we collect 200 cans. We put a label on that says The Open Heart Church of Wichita would like to share with you and bless you during this thanksgiving season. I give them my address and service times. When they go to one of the locations below they receive a basket of goods that has labels on items from 15 different church that show them this was one a community effort and two that you now have options of where to worship. The same goes for a family (minus the address), the Big Heart Family would like for you to know that we are praying for you and your family during this holiday season. Now you have been a blessing  to many families and it did not cost you a lot.

If you have questions you can buzz me or Illa Kirkendoll at the bottom. Be a blessing and live blessed.

SHARING THANKSGIVING BLESSING
With Joy and Thanksgiving…

Thanksgiving Dinners
Good ideas for Thanksgiving outreach
Congregations, groups, and caring people like to share blessings with neighbors in need. How can we reach those in greatest need – reach more families -- avoid duplicating – and let our neighbors know “we care”?
Let’s support the two best-known Thanksgiving Dinner providers: Depending on donations, Bread of Life will have turkeys for almost 2,000 families and United Methodist Open Door will give turkeys for around 2,400 families Let’s give what’s needed to go with the turkeys.
Most needed for family feasts, to supplement other items:
Chicken broth                                                    Marshmallows
Cranberry sauce (jellied or whole)                Dried French onions
Sweet potatoes/yams (canned or fresh)   Cream of mushroom soup
Don’t forget items to roast that turkey: pan, foil, cooking bag.
Checks are especially welcome.               Vegetables are already on hand.
Select one kind of item that your group will collect. How many can you gather in? How about a competition among your groups? Who can build the biggest stack for all to see? Add notes of blessings to give with food.
Donations of food and funds needed at Bread of Life weekdays, 9 - noon before distribution to families on Nov. 21, at to 1301 E Galena, Wichita, 67216; 316-259-7281(Donna).

Wednesday word

As we move into the holiday season let's explore this idea of thanksgiving.

A psalm. For giving grateful praise. 1Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. 2Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. 3Know that the Lord Is God. It is he who made us, and we are hiswe are his people, the sheep of his pasture. 4Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. 5For the Lord Is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

When we really begin to think about how good God is and all that he has done for us, it should make you say thank you. The art of simply saying thank you has been lost among many of our youth of today. They feel entitled to the gifts/blessings they receive from their parents and transfer that to every aspect of their lives. If the simple act of saying thank you goes a long way with your friends and neighbors how much more does your Heavenly Father enjoy hearing it. Thank you.

Shout to the Lord, worship him with gladness, come before him with joyful songs. The great part is none of this requires perfection. I don't have to be in perfect pitch or even know the right words. No matter what I see I have KNOW that the Lord is good. Everything around might look dark but I know he's good. He is my shepherd and I am being guided by him. So often we use this scripture tell people to come into church with a praise on their lifts and I won't argue with that but I will ask us to explore a little deeper. I would as you to explore the idea that every door that you enter should be a place to give God thanks. If I am thankful I don't have time to be negative. I don't have time to talk about people if my mouth is filled with praise.

Be thankful and live blessed
