Grace and peace be unto you!

I speak about the four agreements by Don Miguel Riuz often and agreement one has really been on me hard this week. Be impeccable with your word.

I look at and listen to all of the words that are being said. The are some that are right on point and some that stir up strife. While we have the ability to say what we want, when we want, where we want,and how we want. Should we?  Every day I am struck by the narratives that go out to numb the minds of those that are followers. Ask yourself. Am I follower? Do I make choices based on my research or do I just listen to the television and trust the person sitting behind the table because someone hired them to be the mouthpiece for the news?

My friend, I encourage you to think about the words you are saying. Truly examine where you got your ideas from and how they  serves you. If they are not serving you in a positive, uplifting way it is time to shift. Impeccable words start in your heart, move to your mind, and come out your mouth. Examine your words because they are a light into your heart.

Friday Focus

Is we continue examine The Four Agreements -Agreement one encourages to be impeccable with your word. I have really been pondering this. Back in the day , the saying  was, your word is your bond. In others if you said it you would do it. Now I know people that will look you right in the face and lie to you without thinking about it. Be impeccable in your word.

The other thing I would say might be correlated with lying is having deceptive conversation. As your words must be impeccable so must your conversations.  This come through clear, clean, and precise communication.  It is difficult to process the frustration and sometimes even the pain when someone deceives through their conversation whether through omission or commission.

Too often there is so much that needs to be said but take the time to make sure it is impeccable so that the receiver is truly on the same page.

Transformation Tuesday

As I have been studying and attempting to implement The Four Agreements along with some other concepts I have noticed my language changing. Language is one of the most powerful tools we have in our language. We are trained by our society to use for tearing down more often then building up.

It is easy to see what is wrong with someone but much more difficult to take them to figure out what is awesome about them.

Agreement one - Be impeccable with your words. Right of impeccable was a bit intimidating. In my mind that meant I could mess up and of my negatively trained mind started telling me all the reasons that standard was too high for me. If your mind went there too. Good news. That's not what it means, but it does mean that your words have to have purpose when they leave your mouth. Eliminate nonpurposeful conversations. Your words have power and need to build.

The Bible says it this way. Slow to speak and swift to listen. Our conversations need to be filled with purpose, truth, and direction.
