Friday Findings

Good Friday morning,
We are coming to the end of October and I want to share with you one more resource for Domestic Violence.

National Coalition Against Dometic Violence is to create a culture where domestic violence is not tolerated; and where society empowers victims and survivors and holds abusers accountable. Check it out. Remember, you do not deserve being abused. There is NOTHING you did that made your abuser do it.

Wednesday Word

 Good morning friends,
Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you;love her, and she will watch over you. The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom.Though it cost all you have, get understanding. Cherish her, and she will exalt you;embrace her, and she will honor you. She will give you a garland to grace your head and present you with a glorious crown.” - Proverbs 4:6-9

God just keeps speaking get wisdom. It is the principle thing. Get it! I don't know what any of you are facing but if you have wisdom you can maneuver through it all.

Tuesday Tools

Good Morning,
I want to share of pieces of information about Domestic Violence, this morning.

  • A woman is beaten every 9 seconds.
  • The American Medical Association (AMA) and FBI estimate 3-4 million women are battered each year in the U.S.
  • Domestic Violence is the single greatest cause of injury to women.
  • The FBI estimates violence will occur during the course of two-thirds of all marriages.
  • Women of all cultures, races, occupations, income levels
and ages are battered – by husbands, boyfriends, lovers and partners.
  • White, Black and Hispanic women all incur about the same rates of violence committed by an intimate partner.
  • Approximately one-third of the men counseled for battering at Emerge (a nationally recognized batterers treatment program) are professional men who are well respected in their jobs and communities. These have included doctors, psychologists, lawyers, ministers, and business executives.
  • Battering is the establishment of control and fear in a relationship through violence and other forms of abuse The violence may not happen often, but it remains a hidden and constant terrorizing factor.
  • More than 80% of male batterers are not physically aggressive towards any other adults in their lives. They solely assault their intimate partner. If battering were a mental illness or behavioral disorder batterers would assault others, in addition to their intimate partner.
Understand male or female, you are not alone. Don't suffer in silence, get help.

Wednesday Word

Good Wednesday morning,
Wow, this weather is a trip, but definitely let's us know that winter right around the corner.
Just like the seasons change, so do the seasons of our lives. Sometimes we experience the scorching hot times that seem to burn up things that are in our heart and mind. Others times it seems that we kind of have those spring seasons where it's not but it's not bad and we are just floating along. Then we experience that season time where things and people begin to fall off.  Not because have done anything but God has brought autumn into our life. Finally we experience winter. This is the time where, if not careful, we could get depressed and go into complete hibernation. But winter is designed to kill out the disease in your life and give you opportunity to grow in private before God takes you public.
What season are you in? What is God doing in your life ?

Monday Motivation

Good morning,
Sorry I kind of dropped off last week. Family funerals can be difficult to process when it was very unexpected. So, praise be to God that helps us to triumph.
The ideas that I want share with you today comes from Zig Ziglar. I am a great fan of his writings. This one goes like this.
Some people say motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing. That's why we recommend it everyday.
I chose this today, because some of us need to be reminded that it is not other people's job to motivate you. David said, encourage your self. Too often we are waiting for someone to tell us we are doing a great job, when in reality we just have to tell ourselves and if others join in, cool beans.
What will you tell yourself today? I'm encoraged.

Wednesday Word

Good morning,

I Corinthians 14:40 But all things must be done appropriately and in an orderly manner.
I know this scripture is speaking about the church and making sure that as you use your gifts you are in order,  however God used this scripture to enlighten me on something else.
Decent and in order, is a skill we need to have in our everyday life and if it is, then it would characteristic would automatically kick in, as we move in our various arenas. But, it doesn't always. Situation can and will occur that will pull you out of character but remember,  decency and order.
Any of us may want to show our behind and share our mind with someone but is decent and in order? If not find someone that can be a sounding board, get it out and move on. You are a queen, walk in your royalty.
Hillary Clinton is wearing out Michelle Obama's saying, but it's true. "When they go low, we go high", take it, ingest it. Queens don't stoop to play in the garbage. Go high, regal woman.

Monday motivation

Good morning,
Make sure you this all. It will bless you.

Positive Thinking
Jerry was the kind of guy you love to hate. He was always in a good mood and always had something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, “If I were any better, I would be twins!”

He was a unique manager because he had several waiters who had followed him around from restaurant to restaurant. The reason the waiters followed Jerry was because of his attitude. He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having a bad day, Jerry was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation.

Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Jerry and asked him, “I don’t get it! You can’t be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?” Jerry replied, “Each morning I wake up and say to myself, Jerry, you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or you can choose to be in a bad mood.’ I choose to be in a good mood. Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it. Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or I can point out the positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life.”
Yeah, right, it’s not that easy,” I protested.

“Yes it is,” Jerry said. “Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people will affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It’s your choice how you live life.”

I reflected on what Jerry said. Soon thereafter, I left the restaurant industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it. Several years later, I heard that Jerry did something you are never supposed to do in a restaurant business: he left the back door open one morning and was held up at gunpoint by three armed robbers. While trying to open the safe, his hand, shaking from nervousness, slipped off the combination. The robbers panicked and shot him.
Luckily, Jerry was found relatively quickly and rushed to the local trauma center. After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Jerry was released from the hospital with fragments of the bullets still in his body. I saw Jerry about six months after the accident. When I asked him how he was, he replied, “If I were any better, I’d be twins. Wanna see my scars?”

I declined to see his wounds, but did ask him what had gone through his mind as the robbery took place. “The first thing that went through my mind was that I should have locked the back door,” Jerry replied. “Then, as I lay on the floor, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live, or I could choose to die. I chose to live.”

“Weren’t you scared? Did you lose consciousness?” I asked. Jerry continued, “The paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the emergency room and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read, ‘He’s a dead man.’ I knew I needed to take action.”

“What did you do?” I asked.

“Well, there was a big, burly nurse shouting questions at me,” said Jerry. “She asked if I was allergic to anything. ‘Yes,’ I replied. The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply… I took a deep breath and yelled, ‘Bullets!’ Over their laughter, I told them, ‘I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead.”

Jerry lived thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude. I learned from him that every day we have the choice to live fully. Attitude, after all, is everything.

Friday Findings

Good morning,
I pray all is well. Breast Cancer Fact
In 2016, an estimated 246,660 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed, along with 61,000 new cases of non-invasive breast cancer (also known as carcinoma in situ). About 40,450 women are expected to die in 2016 from breast cancer, though there has been a decrease in death rates since 1989, with larger decreases in women under 50. These decreases are thought to be the result of treatment advancements, earlier detection through screening, and increased awareness.

Thursday Thoughts

Good morning,
Something that encouraged me this morning.
Sometimes, all you need is an encouraging word from a fellow sister who has already achieved success. It helps to hear wisdom from black women who have been through the fire and come out on the other side, especially in the face of challenges and failures and disappointments. That’s why I get so inspired by reading and sharing positive quotes from black women I admire!

Here is my latest compilation of 27 brilliant quotes by successful black women, from actresses to writers to entertainers to business leaders to social activists. Please use them as motivation for your own journey and share this post with as many people as you can on Twitter and Facebook!

Wednesday Word

Wow, what a night.
Got news that a former student was killed by her ex boyfriend,  went to a meeting and forgot to close the windows so kitchen and living flooded, and one of my favorite people is fighting for her life. Oh yeah and computer got wet so who knows if I have anything.
Life is filled with swift transitions. None on earth unmoved can stand. Build your hope on thing eternal. Hold to God's unchanging hand. In times like these we need a savior. In times like these we need an anchor. Be very sure, be very sure your anchor holds and grips that solid rock.
It's so amazing to me that in tough times those old spirituals are what speak peace to your storm. This is truly the season of storms but we're going to make it through.

Let this song bless you

Monday Motivation

Good morning,
I was this saying, You won't be on the sideline forever,  but while your over there cheer for someone else. Sisters why is this so difficult?
We have been fed the hateraid and we have drank of its sweet elixir.  That hateraid has made us inadvertently teach our children these same patterns and then wonder why they don't have friends.
Sistahs we have got to do better.  Cheer your sister.  That little voice talking crazy is your insecurity.  Tell it to shut up. There is a blessing in encouraging others. Be blessed.
Remember,  karma is a beast and what you put out is what comes back to you. Be the blessing to someone else that you want to receive.
